That Boutique-y Whisky Company
Scotland
Well aged grain whisky and TBWC's first batch from Strathclyde distillery in Glasgow. The label covers many of the compounds produced and released by charring oak, which in turn affect the flavour profile of whiskies matured in charred oak casks. It's a diagram full of lots of long and complicated chemical names, beneath which are written the immortal words "I don't know the scientific explanation, but fire made it good."
This is a release of 228 bottles.
‘That Boutique-y Whisky Company’ bottles single malts, single grains and bourbons from a variety of renowned distilleries as well as producing award-winning blended malts and blends. These whiskies are adorned with cultish graphic novel-style labels.
Fudge, aromatic leaf, honey, some tropical fruit and banana chips - very rum-like.
White chocolate Jazzies, soft leather, brown sugar, cedar and more of those other rum notes from the nose.
Milk bottle sweets.
And that's absolutely not damning with faint praise. There's not a hint of the dreaded 'pencil-shavings' in sight here. It's clearly from an epically good cask - and the label made me laugh so hard I nearly wet meself.
