St. Kilian 5 Year Old (That Boutique-y Whisky Company)
This German single malt from the St. Kilian distillery makes an interesting addition to That Boutique-y Whisky Company's World of Smoke series. The malt was smoked with beech wood during the kilning process, and the whisky matured for five years in a cask that previously held cherry wine.
Batch 6 is a release of 542 bottles.
That Boutique-y Whisky Company bottles limited edition whiskies from a variety of renowned distilleries as well as producing award-winning blends. These whiskies are adorned with cultish graphic novel-style labels.
Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt
Nose
Waves of dried fruits and herbaceous leaves are joined by vibrant cherry, rich oak, and elegant woodsmoke in the distance.
Palate
That cherry character carries through, bringing notes of cough drops, backed by vegetal malt, and a touch of woody menthol.
Finish
Drying oak and woody spices wrap things up, with those menthol notes carrying through to the end.
