Springbank 12 YO Green

Springbank Green is one of two expressions from the distillery in the Campbeltown region introduced in the latter half of 2014. It is a 12 year old single malt Scotch whisky matured entirely in bourbon casks and bottled at a pleasing 46% ABV. The result is creamy and sweet with classic Springbank peatiness giving depth and a hint of coastal air.

Elegant, light, extremely good.
Unusually pale, especially with a drop of water. So the nose is surprising - you just dont expect such a pale spirit to be catch your interest before you even touch the glass. Unusually for a Sringbank, peat is to the fore.
This is the opposite to 'big, bruiser, over sherried, over peated' ((and often over regarded)) whiskey. It's incredibly balanced and restrained - and I totally agree with MOM's bottling notes.
To my taste it's exceedingly drinkable neat, yet a drop of water does extend the depth. Not cheap, but definitely worth it.
