Probably one of the finest single malts, I have enjoyed.
Best value at +- BP 41.00
Silken, soft and mellow to the taste. No afterburn (albeit the name has a "burn" element to it.

Based on the suggestion in another review, gave this one a long time to open up. Nose of citrus and slight peat. Mild with gentle whole mouth feel.

Not convinced
I'm a big springbank fan but found elements of a 2010 bottling that i just didn't like. My bottle wasn't 5 star.

A really good Campbeltown . Full of surprises, the fruits, light oil on the palate. With just a perfect amount of peat on the finish. Just be sure to let it sit awhile.

This is a very different malt than the 15 & 18 years by Springbank. The triple distillation definitely gives it a lighter style, yet it is dominated by rich deep fruit and spice flavors. I get little to no peat here. Delicate silky texture is a plus and enjoyable, but if you prefer the thick oily texture of Springers you won't find it here. I thought it was extraordinary...though my preference is for a slightly more robust whisky with hints to moderate peat and thus I prefer the Springbank 15 and 18 years. These two are simply my favorite of all Scottish whiskies so I'm comparing the Hazelburn to the best. That being said...some of the classic Springbank character comes through with banana and coconut...and thus Hazelburn 12 would best any sherried Speyside I have tasted which is more comparative of its character with the vanilla, toffee, chocolate, spice, and obvious sherry.

Excellent
This is truly an exceptional malt for the money. In my opinion, it blows away the 15-year Springbank for basically the same price. Compare this favorably to the Springbank 18-year and the singlecask 19-year (cask 482). Not quite as oily as the 18 or 19-year offerings. But classic deep, tones that linger nicely on the palate. An excellent example of what Campbeltown has to offer.
