    Green Spot Single Pot Still

Green Spot is a fabulous single pot still whiskey and much loved by the critics. This Irish whiskey has come far from the days when it was only sold in Mitchell's grocer shop in the heart of Dublin, though its flavour profile is still just as robust. The whiskey has matured in a combination of first and second fill bourbon casks as well as sherry casks.

    Won't buy again

Expensive and boring. I'm very disappointed.

    Buy Redbreast Instead

Has a watery smoothness that doesn't disappoint and makes drinking it enticing and easy. It draws you in with a pleasant oaky vanilla, and then immediately gives you a very delicate spice with some mild vanilla that you could easily miss if you aren't paying attention, and then it quickly ripens into a soft tea-like bitter. Overall, very good, but as far as I'm concerned, Redbreast is just the wiser choice since they are almost equal in cost (where I live), and while Greenspot can be drunk on any occasion, you likely won't due to how much you spent on it, and Redbreast will make those special moments feel all the more special with its true creamy custard and nuttiness.

    Cheap - and rather nasty.

OK, the bottle has been open a week and there is no improvement. Dominated by a bitter tang which isnt pleasant. Odd given the mostly good reviews - I can only suggest that Green Spot isn't the same as previous. Not a bottle to buy again, the rest is going into my home-made blend. Next time Jack Ryan 12.

Not a spot on the yellow

£29 xmas reduction (amazon) and a fair price for what you get. First few glasses are dissapointing, this is WAY below the standard of superb Yellowspot, but it is also less than half the price. Enticing light bourbon nose, taste is milk chocolate mints, quite bitter oak, absolutely zero in the way of peaches or tropical fruit (yellowspot). I'm wondering if the bottle needs to be open for a week or so for the whiskey to improve - or is this this the reality of NAS when they can dumb it down and the punter is none the wiser? Yes I'm happy to drink it but to be fair it isnt that special.

Keep the recipe and samples in Switzerland as the reference.

Amazing whiskey. It's subtle and well composed. Great ambassador of Single Pot Still style, if you dont like it, chances are it is not style of whiskey for you. On the nose typical apples, hay and cream combo. Unmistakably Irish. Palate is sweet and developing into spice, again typically Irish SPS. The finish is medium, pleseantly fading. Goes well with expresso shot. This is one of the most important whiskeys in the world to cherish in my opinion. A yardstick for single pot still, like Redbreast or Powers Johns Lane. Sorry for the dissapointed peeps, but for me, a solid 5 star!
