The third release in the Nature of Shinshu range from Mars Shinshu is the Shinanotanpopo single malt Japanese whisky, which was made by combining a well-aged whisky from their warehouses with a much younger whisky. "Shinanotanpopo", for those curious, means "dandelion flower".

Tuath glass showing deep copper. The nose shows pronounced notes of mushroom, mossy forest, light shiso/mint, savory notes of bacon, and hints of peat. The palate shows light notes of peat followed by light notes of umami and bacon on the finish with a mildly oily mouthfeel. After 2 drops of water - the nose shows more pronounced mint and shiso. The palate shows more mint character and light notes of licorice.
This stuff is really good. Notes of dried fruit, berries, caramel, and a little peat and smoke.
