Tomatin 40 Year Old 1967 (Jim McEwan's Celtic Heartlands)
A 40 year old from the Tomatin distillery, a really beautiful looking whisky, in a stunning decanter. This is part of the release five of the Celtic Heartlands range, and there are just 523 of these Tomatin decanters in the world!
Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt
Nose
Dark sugar, caramelised banana, vanilla, very creamy and rich. Then apple strudel, with all of those pastry notes, spices and sultanas. Hints of date and marmalade, and then a touch of cigar box. Really enticing, hints of grist too, and citrus, then a touch of smoke.
Palate
Very, very smooth and rounded. Just fills the palate with notes of tropical fruits: watermelon, pineapple, coconut, then ginger notes, hints of sherry, a touch of mixed peels and mixed nuts.
Finish
Long, spicy finish. Incredible rich and complex, one of the most stunning 40 year old whiskies we've ever tried!
