Rebel Yell Straight Rye

A straight rye whiskey from the famous wheated straight bourbon brand Rebel Yell. Made with rye, corn and malted barley (rye whiskies must contain at least 51% rye in the mashbill) it's a much spicier yell altogether!

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose There's that spicy rye in place of the wheat off the bat with sweet vanilla and hints of chocolate.

Palate Woody sultanas, rich warming spice and vanilla.

Finish Sweet and spicy.

Distinct from Ezra and Dickel ryes, but IMHO just as good, for the money.
I now have 3 different bottles that are made from MGP, Indiana 95% rye mash bill "juice". Mine are: Dickel Rye, Ezra Brooks Rye and Rebel Yell Rye. They are all good for the money AND they're all noticeably different. Different enough to be considered distinct whiskies. So please don't think that it's "same" as any other MGP 95/5 rye. I'm enjoying all 3. Ezra was the cheapest for me. I like that Ezra and Rebel Yell specify the age (24 months) - sure, the moniker "straight" pretty much already defines that, but it's transparent, nobody gets to speculate that it's more. With Dickel Rye it doesn't even say "straight", so we are left guessing. I don't know about Bulleit Rye (I don't care what the rumors are or what the website states, only the label counts).

Not the best but definitely a good rye whiskey.
This whiskey finds easy place in my shelf. A taste of wet wheat with a touch of chocolate, as befits a good rye whiskey. Right price.
