Famous bourbon brand Rebel Yell has undergone a rebrand for a new generation of rebels. "Rowdy yet refined", this new look straight bourbon is the original recipe made with wheat, corn and malted barley.
Please note: The quality of the label may show some scuffing, but fear not, the bourbon within is unaffected!
Honey, vanilla, slightly woody raisin and candy sticks.
Sultanas, nectarine and hints of prune. Vanilla throughout.
Warming pressed apple.
Still enjoyable in the midnight hour.
REBEL YELL says it all. To me there is not a better bourbon and I have tried many in my 70 years.
I thought I saw this on one of those ubiquitous "budget bourbon" lists but after tasting it I think I might have confused it with the Rebel Yell 100. Regardless of my potentially poor note taking skills, I'm finding this one somewhat undrinkable. Not completely, just somewhat. There's a lot of weird after tastes I'm not enjoying, especially when Evan Williams Bottled in Bond and Four Roses are effectively the same price. I'm reminded of a story someone told me from their time on a submarine. The chief is walking by with an empty tray, leaving the galley and someone in line says, hey chief, how was the chow? He considered for a moment and said...meh, it'll make a turd. I cannot think of a better way to describe this. It's 80 proof sandpaper in a bottle and it gets the job done.
It is a mix of sweet with musty shoes. Horrible for anyone who enjoys good bourbon. I bought it at the very beginning of the Covid-19 lock down in case I needed an item to trade and ended up trying it. I regret that decision.
My basement bar is stocked with many top shelf bourbons , but my go to bourbon of choice has been Rebel Yell for the past 40 years. I just like the taste of a good wheated bourbon. And Rebel Yell fills that Bill. Jim in Virginia.
Very smooth with honey and vanilla notes. A little shocked by the lack of the bourbon bite/spice. Though, for me, personally, I enjoyed! I just wonder what the experienced bourbon drinkers think....
