Rabbit Hole Heigold

A marvellous high-rye bourbon here from the Rabbit Hole Distillery in Louisville, Kentucky! This expression has been dubbed Heigold, inspired by a German stonecutter from the 1800s who settled in Louisville. The whiskey itself is made from a mash bill of 70% corn, 25% malted German rye, and 5% malted barley. After distillation, it's matured in slowly toasted and charred barrels, and eventually bottled up at 47.5% ABV.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose Warming cinnamon and caramel, with a hint of Jamaican Ginger Cake underneath.

Palate Thick vanilla pods, dry oak, peppercorn and more cinnamon bringing spiciness.

Finish A smidge of citrus appears through the toffee and toasted spices.

Reviews for Rabbit Hole Heigold Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey
Perfect
Purchased as I like the occasional old fashioned, very flavourful and a little goes a long way. One of the best bourbons I've tasted.

Pure gold
This is literally the best bourbon I have ever tasted - it has easily become my favourite. It is smooth and silky and just beautiful from start to finish.

Exceptional bourbon.
This is absolutely delicious and would be one of my top-3 bottles of whisky(ey), if I only had 3! Better than all the under-40 quid bourbons, in my opinion, and even better than 1792, which is pretty good already! Lovely stuff.

Perfect
The more bourbon I try, the more I am reminded that I need not have bothered and this is all I need. Far superior to everything else at the £50 price point, including Black and Gold, Angel's Envy, Blackland and Mitchers. Smoke on the nose, Vanilla and honey on the front end and deep caramel on the back end........Just sensational and a must try.

Good Stuff
Honey and vanilla on the nose with smooth sweet honeyed palate and a good decent finish. Loved the first bottle so a replacement had to be bought, getting to be a fan of good Burbon

Big brand bourbon with smallbrand name - but nice
Nice bourbon, big marketing driven brand (Pernod's portfolio), so you're paying for the story if the small startup - not so small after all if you look at their capacity and output. Good flavour though not that different from others. Bit of a hype, albeit one that tastes good.

Worth the wait.
Smooth with a little spice. This bourbon is fantastic - I’ve waited years for any Rabbit Hole bourbon to be available in the UK and it was worth the wait. My new go to sipping bourbon plus it’s robust enough to make a stunning Manhattan.
