One of four expressions released by Old Pulteney in mid-2018, Huddart is named after the street on which the distillery resides. Following a finishing period in that previously held peated whisky, this is a particular smoky and intense dram.
Caramel apple, a whiff of bonfire smoke followed by creamy vanilla.
Burnt sugar and fried banana, alongside a touch of brine.
Lingering thyme honey and earthy malt.
Extremely simple for the price with a very short finish
I love it, I was intrigued to try a Pulteney with a hint of smoke and wasn’t disappointed. Sadly the distillery was closed after our cycle from Lands End to John o’ Groats but thankfully I stumped up for a full bottle!
There's some harshness to it, a drop of water helps. Not a bad whisky but would have gained a lot with some more years in the casks both with harshness and flavor. Wish I could a try a Huddart style with a range of stated ages from 10 and up I believe all of them would be an improvement over this Nas version.
Exelent single malt. The sweet and fruits are well balanced by the smokeyness which is very subtle. Can I taste the briney sea, I'm not sure but I like to think so.
