Powers Gold Distiller's

An excellent Irish whiskey has returned to the UK! Powers Gold Label Distiller’s Cut was relaunched on these shores in late 2020, and it's a marvellous expression packing waves of cooked apple, honeycomb and spicy malt notes. Great for sipping neat, but it also does particularly well in cocktails...

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose Orange peel, fresh honey, biscuit dough, cinnamon and mixed nuts.

Palate Peach, nectarine, spiced oak, toffee and apple pie.

Finish Vanilla, melted butter on crumpets, cinnamon and white chocolate.

Nice Irish
Vanilla, melted butter, cinnamon, cooked apple. Toffee apple? Really tasty with a nice warming heat.

Excellent summer whiskey
Only just come across this and pleasantly surprised. Usually go for Gold but this gives a nice fruity high note with the smooth warmth you would expect from an Irish. I will enjoy this as a summer whiskey in front of an outdoor fire under the stars and then go back to gold for the winter.

3.5 out of 5 isn't bad.
Considering a 5 would be a springbank or a £70+ this is very nice. I was supprised. Normally find the Irish aittle thin unless we're talking redbreast or green spot but this is nice and oily. Non chill filtered and I'm guessing pot stilled? Lots of nice spice apple cinnamon and nutmeg. Worth full price a steal on offer.

Best Irish i've tried since Mr Walsh's lovely 46% Redhead!
Must agree, this whiskey certainly does have notes of apple present amongst its particular flavour profile - as mentioned. In fact, there's a little hint of cider on the nose too! However, that certainly didn't trouble me - at all.
A dislike of cider & avoider of apples apart, cos this, make no mistake is an excellent value, decent & very moreish whiskey- indeed. Actually. (IMHO).
..Butterscotch, Toffee apple + Liquorice = Yes Yes &Yes!

Meh
Tbh, sadly not very impressed. Smooth, but that's due to a rather oily finish with a rather unpleasant bitter aftertaste. I've had much nicer Irish and personally don't rate this IMHO.
