“A very rare bottling, Port Ellen matured in a sherry hogshead, the sherry sweetness complementing the typical Port Ellen style. A whopping price tag but an interesting whisky for Port Ellen fans. One of those 'try before you die' whiskies.”

An independently bottled Port Ellen, distilled in 1982 and bottled 2016 by German bottler Malts of Scotland. It was distilled in 1982, the year before the distillery was closed, and bottled in 2016. It was drawn from a single Sherry hogshead, with 225 bottles produced. Very rare indeed...

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose

Lemon and orange peels, sooty smoke and a little bit of raisin.

Palate

Honey, peat, oily walnut, dried fruit and some salinity.

Finish

Spiced and long, though a balancing sweetness persists.
