Launched in 2015, the Port Askaig 100° Proof is a big, smoky single malt Scotch whisky from an undisclosed Islay distillery. This is bottled at 57.1% ABV - which is 100° Proof in a traditional system of alcohol content measurement (different from 100 proof, which you're much more likely to see on American bottlings).
Earthy smoke rises first, shortly followed by smoked meats, citrus peels and a heaped spoonful of brown sugar.
Zesty lemon and lime, paired with ground cumin, Smiths Bacon Fries and a touch of apple juice.
Rather long and enjoyably soot-y.

A wonderful dram full of smoke and peat. Warms on the way down. Barley notes and honey on the palate. Long great finish.
Huge wallop of smoke and long long coal soot finish, utterly gorgeous with dark chocolate. Smoothness belies the ABV and just crazy vfm.
Really enjoyed this one...nice sweetness to accompany expected smoke finish. Well constructed.
Well.. now we're talking
This is to be heartily recommended. If you are looking for a smokey yet flavoursome whisky then this is for you. To sum up it’s deliciously smokey, sweet and complex with a long charred wood finish.
