Port Askaig 10 Year Old - 10th Anniversary
This expression of Port Askaig was bottled in celebration of the 10th anniversary of the Port Askaig series, and rather fittingly, it's also 10 years old! The whisky was sourced from an unidentified Islay distillery, based near the village of Port Askaig from which the brand obviously takes its name.
The liquid was drawn from 15% solera sherry butts, 25% first-fill bourbon barrels and 60% refill American oak hogsheads.

Nose
Aromas of fresh American pancakes with maple syrup and streaky bacon, charred notes of used matchsticks and a floral hint.
Palate
Rye bread and salted butter, maritime samphire, olive oil and sweeter notes of butternut squash and zingy apples, with a backbone of peat smoke.
Finish
Charred orchard fruits, baking spices and a touch of liquorice.
