Absolutely stunning
This is the best Penderyn I've tasted so far. It's like a milder Islay, subtle peat, smoke and iodine. I prefer a sledgehammer of peat and smoke personally but this is not one to be passed over. Even with my native Welsh Dragon on the bottle, I would not want to pay much more than £20 for this, so £36+ is pushing it.
A rather unholy marriage of the typical fruity banana undertones from Penderyn with some peat added. It's a bit contrived maybe rather than entirely natural but it works to a degree. It's not my go to favourite, but it's a pleasant every day slurp. Worth having when on offer from around £25.
Elegant and subtle smoky flavor. AAA
I didn't really know what to expect from a Welsh Whisky, but this was a welcomed addition to the cabinet. I've read it's matured in ex Lophroaig casks, and you can certainly get a light touch of peat. As a big fan of Islay whiskeys, this isn't too dissimilar to Jura superstition, not smokey enough (for me) to make me want to buy it a few times a year, but certainly one I wouldn't turn down. It's a good solid single malt that can most certainly hold its own against some of the Scotch stalwarts.
