Paul John 6 Year Old - Forgotten Gems
A richly robust and characterful single malt Indian whisky from Paul John, sniffed out by the clever gang at Forgotten Gems! There are 72 bottles of this six-year-old whisky, that spent its time in a first fill ex-bourbon barrel, and its brimming condensed milk creaminess and rich dark chocolate.
Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt
Nose
Banana fritters, vanilla cream, goji berries and caramelised condensed milk lead to a touch of pancetta, candied lemon, apple chips, robust oak and cigar box spice. Burnt chocolate cake and rich charred wood develop beneath.
Palate
Big bold oak and creamy, lactic vanilla collide bringing a balance of custard and clove, fudge and candied ginger, with sweet sticky toffee, more of that caramel condensed milk and a touch of bitter citrus cushioning a subtle smidge of peppery smoke.
Finish
Sweet spices edge in, while cinder toffee, tonka bean and notes of milk stout balance a touch of peppery heat, charred herbs, and dark chocolate.
