The Auld & the Bold series explores how whisky traditions travel and evolve across the world, and this smoky Indian single malt from Paul John demonstrates exactly that. Crafted using Indian-grown six-row barley and Scottish peat, then rapidly matured in Goa’s tropical climate, this whisky wasmatured for six years in a bourbon barrel before bottling at 57.9% ABV. Just 95 bottles were released from cask #6329.
Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt
Nose
Peat smoke, vanilla pods, warming honey, marmalade, and buttery shortbread with tropical fruit underneath.
Palate
Ashy peat rolls across sweet malt, green apple, baking spice, and flashes of pineapple and mango.
Finish
Lingering smoke, sweet honey, citrus zest, and soft tropical fruit.
