Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose: Toasted cereal, big barley and honey notes, Hob Nobs! Slightly vegetal peatiness, lemon and seaweed. Some beach bonfire but the peat isn't overpowering. Malty.

Palate: Wood spices, a bowl of porridge with honey and then demerara whilst sat beside a fireplace.

Finish: A touch of mocha, oak and perhaps old fashioned liquorice.

Overall: Peated Indian single malt whisky from John Distilleries that shows very well at what we would usually consider a young age.

    Highly recommended

This whisky brings a lot of sweetness but still has that bit of smokiness which doesn't over power at all..nice melow whisky with slight smoke through.
    Highly recommended and must try.

    Best young peated whisky

One of the best young Peated whisky out there. Very subtle and thoroughly enjoyable. I am a fan of heavily Peated whisky but this is really surprising and must have for any cabinet.

One of the best I have ever tested

Dont understand much about malts. I do collect single malts as well as single barrel drams for past few years. I am more inclined towards clean malts, which are easy to understand. Let me tell you this one rocks. enjoy this with your friends and you shall not regret this.

Still very rough around the edges.

Didn't like it at all! Sorry.

    A rare misstep

Your advent calendar has been astounding, but this is so very young and rough it borders on undrinkable.

    Terrible dram

not sure if it was the dram sample but this whiskey was terrible - not at all mature

    Surprisingly nice

My first taste of an Indian whisky, and this is surprisingly good from a distillery that just opened a few years ago. Balances the peat pretty well against a strong oak note, a bit of well-placed heat, and just enough sweetness.

    nice & mellow

    Delicate, fragrant with peaty notes

This is a whisky that seems to say and do an aweful lot, plenty of sweet barley and caramac sweet notes but with some burnt pine aromas up front. I don't know whether it's knowing it's Indian that makes this happen or whether it's the whisky but there's some aromatic almond and coriander in there - sort of like an aromatic Pasanda just underneath the whisky.

    nice peated one

dont see why the previous review says it s shit unless peated whisky is not the taste they are looking for....
master of malt shouldnt allow that sort of immature review.
    nice shit to sip ;-)

Nose: Soft peat smoke akin to a slightly damp Autumn leaf fire, Malt, Some acacia honey and a little cocoa.

Palate: Warm milk poured over muesli, honey, soft medicinal notes, some skin off a homemade rice pudding, ginger and peat smoke.

Finish: A long lingering peat smoke finish including a little espresso.

    13th December 2014

    Indian spices

There is lemon and clove on the nose with a pretty strong element of ammonia. Slight peat and smoke with some cardamon and honey leads to a muscavado finish. The final notes are black pepper and chilli. It is a very spicy whisky that might hold up well after a strongly flavoured meal, but I find it a little overpowering on its own.

Very medicinal, I believe the fast ageing still showd

    13th December 2014

Must taste, Much better than some of the so called original malts.

Tasted quite a few malts in past few years. must say one of the best I have ever tasted. Every inch as described. very few are same on your palate as described by distillery.

Do give it a try and you will not regret it.
Found it much better than Amrut.
