North British 21 Year Old 1996 (cask 14409) - The Sovereign (Hunter Laing)
A single grain Scotch whisky from North British distillery. In 1996, the Lowland whisky was placed in a single refill hogshead for a lengthy 21 years. It was then bottled at cask strength in November 2017 by Hunter Laing for The Sovereign series, in a release of 219 numbered bottles.
Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt
Nose
Creamy and sweet with toffee, vanilla, caramel and sweet fresh oak.
Palate
Gentle sweet and rich notes of Demerara sugar, honeycomb and tropical notes of toasted coconut.
Finish
Vanilla and marzipan make for a rounded finish, with a touch more oak appearing.
