Nikka Coffey Malt Bottling Note

While most distilleries use their Coffey stills only to make grain whisky, Nikka use the two Coffey stills at their Miyagikyo distillery to create malt whisky too. The Nikka Coffey Malt Whisky was introduced to their selection of expressions in 2014. Plenty rich and flavoursome, it's a wonderful addition to Nikka's fantastic range.

Reviews for Nikka Coffey Malt Whisky
Cake spice and dusty cacao
Cake spice and dusty cacao on the nose. An elegant palate of burnt caramel and nut oils. Ginger lingers and transitions into a medium finish of citrus.

Great brew, a special indulgence for every whiskey aficionado
Despite its 45% alcohol all the divine whiskey qualities prevail. I'm not looking for bananas, caramel and exotic tastes, its a real Whiskey as it should be. Enjoyable from the first touch, it's true that will be more magnetic to Irish and bourbon whiskey aficionados. A great brew, value for money certainly.

Not bad
After trying the coffey grain, thought i would try this. Good but not as good as the Grain Less flavour.

A top notch Japanese whiskey.
This has long been my favourite of the Japanese whiskies I’ve tried. Not for the faint hearted, for sure, but robust and full of exciting flavour.

Sweet but deep and complex
Beautifully sweet but complex and lingering. Almost salted caramel flavours for me. Can't stop myself from going for another dram every time.

Lovely straight - Amazing as an Old fashioned base
A sweet whisky that is very nice by itself - as is the grain version. I am not sure I’d compare these to Scottish/Irish/American whiskies though. They are their own thing.

Where this bad boy really shines is in an old fashioned though. But make sure you add half the amount of sugar you normally would! My recipe is 2oz of this, 2dash bitters and 1/2 tsp of 1:1 simple syrup. Garnish with flames orange peel.

Caramel Whisky
An incredible sweet carmamel flavored whisky witth some hints of Citrus and white chocolate.

Very smooth and delightful finish.

That being said , this whisky is not for everyone; If you dislike sweet and soft whisky, this won't be for you.

Deliciousness par excellence
The previous reviewer needs a smell and palate transplant. This is one of the most delicious whiskys around. Sweet, citrussy, caramel poured over ripe fruits, all sorts of loveliness in a glencairn. One of my must have daily drams.
