Here we have another release in Murray McDavid's Mystery Malt series, Mublen Moor! It's mysterious because the distillery which this single malt hails from is kept... well, a mystery. After distillation in 2010, this one was initially matured in a pair of bourbon hogsheads, before it was moved to first-fill Madeira barriques for a finishing period. The limited edition whisky was bottled at eight years old at 50% ABV, with 1,553 bottles released.

Very fresh, flowery and a bit of spicy fruit too, along with honey etc.. a little firey but easily tamed with a splash if thats how you want it. Very decent and will think on distillery; Auchroisk comes to mind. I think the water and tem mins in glass is a big boost for it. struth
It's phenomenally tasty! As fruity as they say and has a smoothness that belies its high ABV. A really delicious neat dram, with a strong, lingering and very pleasant finish.
A beautiful spey drawn from 4 separate barrels. The nose offers red and green apple skins, honied Heather and rich malt. Oily mouth feel which harks towards a singleton. Palate offers manuka honey still with the apples and creamy biscoff biscuits. Hints of calvados. Sweet cloying finish that lingers. Great fun and pleasure to sample. Mark Horrell.
