This blended malt was released as part of The Vatting series from Murray McDavid, dubbed Àlainn! This is the 2019 release, and carries a smashing 30 year age statement. It marries single malt whiskies from Islay, initially matured in a bourbon hogshead before it enjoyed a finishing period in a sherry butt. Complex and smoky stuff, this.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose: Floral vanilla orchid, grassy aromas and maritime peat smoke, with a touch of grape skin.

Palate: Mineral seaweed notes, with a hint of syrup sponge sweetness accompanied by vanilla custard, supported by rich peat smoke.

Finish: Parma violet sweeties, caramelised nuts and medicinal peat.
