Midleton Barry Crockett Bottling Note

Released in 2011, Midleton's Barry Crockett edition was named after the distillery's master distiller, and it is aged in both bourbon and new American oak barrels! Very interesting indeed and a limited release of around 2,500 bottles per year.

Midleton Barry Crockett Legacy Reviews

A drink fit for the Gods!

Beyond anything I’ve ever tasted. Heaven on earth, pure perfection. I don’t have enough praise for it. Superb excellence!

Try it, it's worth the adventure.

Absolutely distinctive taste right from the start. Smooth and interesting as one savours the uniqueness of this blend. Quite a feat for a blended Irish whiskey. We purchased this bottle as a group of 4 and hands down we all agreed that we got great value. We discovered it at a scotch tasting evening and never looked back. Kudos to Middleton!

Stunning, top class offering by the Master himself

Best of the best!

If there is a better whiskey out there then I haven't tried it! Perfect in every way, the complexity hits you from all sides leaving you wanting more with each sip.

Mellow and delightful

One of the best Irish whiskies I have ever tried. I never entirely understood all the descriptive terminology around whiskies until I had this delightful and savoury concoction. This is a slow drinker, every sip appreciated. I recommend it to everyone who has ever wondered if the higher price whiskies are actually worth the price, because this one certainly was (mine is now an empty bottle in a beautiful wooden casket).

Great, but the price...!

OK, let’s start at the top: £150 in the UK which is about $200. What do you get for your money? Well, first there is a very well made box, a coffin to hold the bottle in place. Oh, you want to know what the whiskey tastes like? Well, in my opinion, rather rough at first taste without water. Then, after a drop of H2O, a smooth, tasty, full-flavoured mouthful with a great lingering after-taste delighting my palate. This is such a good whiskey that I could imagine having one glass and no more as a digestif; well, more likely, two glasses of delight. But the price! Even as a fan of whiskey I could not imagine spending this much (although I have been fortunate enough to be given it as a present). And, for what it is worth, the BC Legacy is a monotone and I could buy wonderful complex Scottish malts for a lot less money.

A good sipping whiskey and worthy of praise. Being a bit inspired by bourbons, some may like this more than others. I was fortunate enough to try this on several occasions on a recent trip to Ireland.

Exceptional. Next best thing to Jameson Vintage.

Master of all I survey

Very Rare pleased my palate far more than Legacy which I found somewhat harsh and a tad off putting, it is after all, just a matter of taste.

The name says it all.

We started our Irish whiskey odysesy in Galway and finished it in Midleton at the Jameson distillery where the Legacy is produced. The Legacy, like the island, is warm and welcoming.

Fantastic! Tried and bought while in Dublin recently. Very complex and one of the best we tried among all the pubs we visited. Wish we could buy here in the States.

Favorite Irish Whiskey

As an avid Irish Whiskey drinker with 58 different Irish Whiskeys in my current collection, this is my favorite, had heard about it and decided to try a small glass of it at a local Irish Pub, took a sip and instantly knew this was the best Irish Whiskey I had ever had, very good from start to finish, great nose, complex flavors, very smooth and a great finish, no bad notes at all!

Class in the glass

I am A whiskey fanatic and I must say Hats off to Barry. WHAT a fantastic experience.....

Good but not $200+ good

I've drank more than a dozen of all the Midleton whiskies available in the US (so no Spots apart from Green) and this is among the best. But at this price point, it should be THE best and I just don't think it is. I'd choose the Midleton Very Rare, the Green Spot and the Powers Johns Lane over the Barry. This isn't to say the Barry is bad, because its close to great. But I've bought it several times and been given it once so I've had my fill of it. There's just too many great options at a fraction of the price.

Midleton Barry Crockett review by Larry McGarry

On the nose; Ripe Banana, custard and roasted almonds. The wood; I'm getting smoked bourbon barrel shavings, vintage port and fresh cobnuts. Taste; liqourice, vanilla, elderflower, first press almond oil and Eucalyptus honey. The finish is freshly lead Axminster Carpet, melting ice cream at the sea side in summer and an autumnal walk in a thick deciduous Irish forest.
I have been privileged in life to have drank enough whiskey to understand its delightful complexity. To this day I'd have given the nod to The Dalmore's Alexander iii as my favourite... But this whiskey is a work of genius. In my opinion the world has a new Picasso... He's an artist making whiskey at Middleton!

Pure Pot Head

Comparing this rare Single Pot Still to aged malts misses the point entirely.

27th March 2014

Good whiskey

Nice whiskey but probably not worth the price tag compared to aged malts in same price range

Probably (almost sure) the best irish I ever had. Fruity an fresh, leaves with long aftertaste and strong desire to have it more.
