Nose: Mince pies (complete with buttery pastry), plump raisins and cacao come forward immediately. Give it a minute for notes of Swedish pepper cookies to appear, followed by two scoops of raspberry ripple and rum-raisin ice cream.
Palate: Stewed plums dusted with baking spices with glimmers of crystallised ginger. Dark chocolate dipped in honey, complimented by nutty notes and oak-y warmth.
Finish: Continuing cinnamon, with juicy apple and sultana carrying on throughout the very long finish.
Overall: This one shines spectacularly - a first-class 40 year old single malt.
