"Find me a Dundee fruit cake that smells more like a Dundee fruit cake than this, and you'll have done well... Magnificent. Has no problem mastering the years."- Jim Murray (95 Points)
The nose opens with a bowl of dried fruits gently macerating in golden rum which leads to subtle notes of winter spice and red berry fruits.
The palate is nutty with a sweet Horchata undercurrent building into bolder notes of Christmas cake and stewing passion fruit.
Forty years old with a finish to match - incredibly long with notes of raisins and sultanas. then, finally, a lick of cinnamon.
This is a stunning example of how a whisky can still flourish after sitting in an oak cask for forty years, simply incredible.

like this more than the 50 year old , so full of flavour .
is this a Benrinnes .
"Rum-soaked dried fruit"? Yeah, that works. Hints of anise or black licorice. A touch of the leathery. There are other subtle notes of spices I can't identify. On first taste, what is that? Sweet figs? Candied dried fruit? It's wonderful! Some spiciness now. A touch of the anise. A touch of the leather. Return of that opening flavor---what is that? Buttery, sweet, dried fruit very tastily offered. Yum! It finishes well, complex. Very nice stuff. I couldn't quite get myself to spring for a whole bottle, so I bought the 3 cl sample. Very, very nice!
Truly awesome. To be sipped and savoured. A fantastic malt with so many layers of flavour. Highly recommended.
very very intense and wonderful whisky. i dont have anything else this old & deep to compare it to otherwise i could have given it 10/10.
