Description

Christmas pudding by the sea? That’s roughly where we’re heading with this 18-year-old Bowmore, matured in a single bourbon barrel, selected and bottled by yours truly for our Master of Malt Christmas 2026 range. Rich fruit and orange peel meet warming spice, gentle peat smoke, and that unmistakably coastal Islay character. There’s plenty here for the whisky enthusiast to get stuck into, and plenty of pudding-like appeal for everyone else. A rather lovely gift for an Islay whisky fan, especially one who doesn’t need another novelty mug. A release of 329 bottles.

Nose

Earthy, with notes of oily old rope, fireplace ash, flamed orange peel, sweet spices, and peat smoke, dense yet balanced, with coastal freshness shining through.

Palate

Superbly soft in texture, with layers of salted, roasted peanuts, sticky toffee, and elegant, chewy peat smoke. Zesty orange and Christmas pudding sweetness make way for warming, fruit cake spice beneath.

Finish

Nut brittle, smoked almonds, vibrant waves of grilled stone and orchard fruits, oily, ashen peat, a very subtle hint of aged cheese on rye crackers, with sticky, sweetly spiced chutney.
