“Review: Truly excellent, and one of the most interesting drams I've had regardless of price. Complex on the nose — graham cracker up front — with the whole profile living in the butterscotch family rather than reading as standard oloroso or PX, though clearly in that family. Winey, full-bodied palate with caramelized sugar that never tips into too sweet, and it lingers long on butterscotch. Four different sherry casks working together and it never feels disjointed. Genuinely would've paid double and in the probably thousand bottles I've tasted in my lifetime, in the top 3 most interesting.I wouldn't have sent a review in if there were bottles still available. I just would have bought them.”

Description

Father's Day indulgence awaits in this fine dram! Hailing from a secret Speyside distillery in an undisclosed location "guarded by dads", this generously sherried single malt Scotch whisky joins our exclusive Master of Malt collection as an unrepeatable and wildly giftable treat.

Blended by a dad, for dads (and those that love them) from single malts matured in casks of Pedro Ximénez (18yo, 25%), moscatel (15yo, 25%), palo cortado (15yo 25%), and refill oloroso hogsheads (17yo, 25%) and yielding a total of 406 bottles, it's an insanely rewarding drop with supple layers of apricot, speculoos, and leather, ideal for laid-back armchair sipping.

Nose

Robust layers of juicy barley, honey nut cornflakes, cakey spice, and buttery fudge. Baked apples and prunes open up in time, with malt biscuits, chewy toffee, and gentle oak.

Palate

Soft, supple sweetness, with layers of apricot and vanilla cream cushioning balanced, warming spice. Millionaire's Shortbread, honeyed almonds, and creamy grist.

Finish

Lucious stone fruits linger, with peaches, apricots, and caramelised notes of prune, backed by oaken vanilla, and sweet, warming notes of speculoos spiced biscuits.

Good value for money

Had this from a taster set. Malty sweet, with that tart oaky finish, and some nice warmth. Definitely worth 60GBP, although I'm not sure if I want a full bottle in my collection.
