Mars Tsunuki 2022 Edition Bottling Note

From Mars Tsunuki comes the 2022 Edition single malt Japanese whisky, and we're the exclusive retailer in the UK! Founded in 2016 by renowned distillers Hombo Shuzo, Mars Tsunuki is still in its salad days of whisky production, but with releases like these, promising things can be expected from this young distillery. Primarily aged in bourbon barrels and bottled at 50% ABV, this is a dram full of youthful character that opens up beautifully with a drop of water.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose: Touches of apricot, with jammy marmalade and wafts of vanilla.

Palate: Creamy cocoa butter balanced by a light citrussy acidity, green oak, sweet maple syrup, and with gentle heat building.

Finish: Oaky bourbon sweetness lingers.

Mars Tsunuki 2022 Edition Reviews

More peat than Tsunuki The Peated.

Looks like you are reviewing Tsunuki the First as I did not nose nor smell this at all in this medium peated whisky. One first opening, the peat is harsh and banging on the door.
After having the bottle open for a month or so, it becomes an easy peaty sipper with hints of indeed peaches and a bit of citrus. Hoping the 2023 release will be un peated again. I love their stone fruit profile whisky, but peat does not always make this better.
