Maple Syrup &... 8yo

The &Whisky folks have donned their snow boots and headed to the Great White North (that's Canada), and they've brought back some goodies: it's Maple Syrup & Toasted Oats & Orange Zest & Vanilla! What we have here is a tremendous Canadian corn whisky that's been finished exclusively in sherry casks. The clue is indeed in the name here, and you can expect plenty of sweet nuttiness coming through for sure. A bottle of this, some friends, a fireplace, and we'd say that's a pretty perfect evening eh?

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose Buttery toffee popcorn and chocolate cornflake cakes, plantain, toasted oats and maple syrup with a rancio-like edge. Bonkers stuff!

Palate Orange zest with Florentines full of biscuity, nutty, candied cherry, dark chocolate, honeyed goodness. Black tea and vanilla.

Finish Juicy Fruit, sweet tea, and rolled oats. Mmm. Moreish.

Reviews for Maple Syrup & Toasted Oats & Orange Zest & Vanilla 8 Year Old
Well Worth the Price
Great tasting whisky which punches well above its weight. I bought it as an “everyday” sipper but its Christmassy flavours had me drinking it at a much faster rate than that.

Moorish, drinkable, unusual
The orange hits you as soon as you release the cork. The kind of old orange left in the bowl too long with a lovely bitter hit. After a while the honey balances the orange. A sweet taste that might appeal to both sherry bomb fans, bourbon lovers and mainstream whisky sippers.

Give this one a try guys.
Throw your price & label pretensions out of the window this whisky is superb ! If this bottle had a Whistlepig or Yamazaki label on it (and was £200 !) everybody would be raving about it. This whisky belies its price and is a real credit to Master of Malt for their efforts. It is so smooth, I am finishing a bottle alarmingly quickly and then ordering another just as quickly :-). Tip… if your usual dram is shy of the £100 Free Delivery threshold order one of these to try.

One of those unknown gems……for now. A real treat
Sweet, honeyed thick and oily with sweet oat flapjacks, hobnobs biscuits, baked banana and honey roasted peanuts and almonds. I’d agree this stuff goes down far to easy. There is nothing added to this whisky just quality corn and 8 years in a barrel and it’s one of the best corn whiskeys I’ve ever had the fortune of coming across. I saw the writing on bottle and description & tasting notes and I knew I would love this. A good corn whisky should be oily and sweet with lots of nutty flavours, so I bought 2 bottles and wow I was not disappointed, this stuff is a bargain at this price. For now at least it’s one of those unknown gems. I think good corn whisky is far too undervalued like a good old grain whisky. Corn whisky is like rum in the sense that it just gets better with age but not all whisky gets better with age. This is just bursting with “come back for more” flavours and because of this it sneaks up on you and you end up drunk like I was last night but I enjoyed it so much. Well done to the people at Master Of Malt for buying this in because it’s a real treat. Thank you guys.
