Mackmyra Brukswhisky

Mackmyra's core expression is a light Swedish whisky matured primarily in first fill bourbon barrels but also includes whisky aged in Sherry and Swedish oak casks too as well as some smokier malt, which all adds to the complexity.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose Fresh, delicate fruit aromas with vanilla pods. Pine nuts, pine needles, raspberry bushes and mixed peels. Ryvita and Sesame Snaps.

Palate Vanilla cream, custard even and more fruit. Red berries, boiled sweets and rich, warming bourbon.

Finish Spicy oak and apple pie whilst remaining light and nimble.

Overall Tremendous easy-drinking single malt whisky from Sweden.

Reviews for Mackmyra Brukswhisky
Beautiful whiskey beautiful bottle design
Such a succulent whiskey, I'm no profissionado but it's easy drinking and with a little water added it's as smooth a silk, so enjoyable and moorish, it's kept on a high shelf and I've never noticed, really noticed till now the little dimples in the side wall at the base of the bottle, I grabbed it this eve and my fingers just nestled into the dimples as I stretched for the bottle and it just clicked, top shelf! the dimples make for easy handling from the top shelf, superlative marketing, bravo!

Lacks character
I mean, it's a nice light whisky sure, but lacks character for what you are paying. Nothing really stands out. I've had £20 whisky with much more character. Probably a good(ish) beginner whisky although there are cheaper (and better) options.

A great whisky for a casual social, great fun.
Very drinkable and enjoyable. Everyone I offered it to loved it, and helped themselves to more, finishing off my one bottle pretty quick. I went out and bought two more. Not peaty, not heavy, very smooth and approachable, lots of dried fruits, I do get the vanilla and the spice as well. Goes very well with Chinese barbecued meat (bakwa).

Good not great
A good whisky. Nothing dramatic, but subtle tones and pleasant warming finish. Very easy drinking.

Nice addition
Very light, fruity, and sweet. Might not be everybody's cup of whiskey, but I enjoy it a lot myself. Makes a unique addition to the collection.

Nice, but I wouldn't buy it again.
There's a lot of fruit and vanilla, and I like it just because it's Swedish. But perhaps it doesn't match the price tag though? Of course you can drink it as it is, but maybe you would rather use it as a drink ingredient? In that case, it's a bit too expensive and also a bit too tasty. I think the problem is that there's so many good whiskies around, and I don't know what I'd need this one for.

Wasn't expecting much but surprised
Nose is very pleasing, I get honey instantly with vanilla and after a while sponge cake, custard.
Palate with strong custard and some caramel.
Quite mellow and enjoyable, overall I'm happy with it.

Not for everyone, but for me.
Great whisky for people who don't like liquor. I think it's fun, but I like controversy. And light fruit flavor.
