Macallan 30 Year Old (That Boutique-y Whisky Company)
We have another That Boutique-y Whisky Company independent bottling of well-aged whisky from the legendary Speyside-based distillery, Macallan! This is terribly exciting news because this edition was matured for 30 years before it was bottled at 47.2% ABV. Macallan's famously small stills are the focus of the label art, as always, and that rather large curious fellow has returned with his trusty magnifying glass.
Batch 16 is a release of 284 bottles.
‘That Boutique-y Whisky Company’ bottles single malts, single grains and bourbons from a variety of renowned distilleries as well as producing award-winning blended malts and blends. These whiskies are adorned with cultish graphic novel-style labels.
Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt
Nose
Rich vanilla, light florals and plenty of juicy orchard fruit, with hints of toffee, oak, brandied cherries and crystallised ginger underneath.
Palate
Caramelized peaches, apple blossom and thyme honey combine initially, with some pink grapefruit bitterness and hazelnut buttercream in support.
Finish
Refined oak, golden barley sweetness and sharp green apple notes remain.
