A wonderfully thick, malty whisky from Longmorn. This was distilled in 1996 and aged initially in regular hogsheads before being transferred into a small Octave cask for a finish. The result is lots of additional complexity and flavour.
Nose: Vanilla and tangy, charred oak. Black pepper and exotic spices, a little menthol. Hints of cloves, lavender and cocoa.
Palate: Bittersweet, toffee apple and coffee beans, vanilla sugar and roasted peanuts, a hint of stewed pear.
Finish: Good length with a little baklava on the tail.
