Lochnagar 16yo SR2021 Bottling Note

This is a 16 year old single malt Scotch whisky from Royal Lochnagar, presented as part of Diageo's 2021 Special Releases. It brings together whisky matured in American oak and European oak refill casks, resulting in an expression that shows off a fresh, vibrant flavour profile. The theme for the 2021 Special Releases is 'Legends Untold', inspired by stories surrounding the distilleries features. As such, the label of this one has a particularly fierce-looking horse upon it.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose: Creamy nose, touch of toffee, touch of brioche, touch of vanilla and some apple.

Palate: A little chilli and then warm baking spices, cooked apple like a tart tatin, creamy texture.

Finish: Some spice on finish, creaminess persists. Quite short.

Short but subtly pleasant
Tasting notes spot on. Lovely expanding mouth feel which finishes quite suddenly. Subtly pleasant without being earth shattering. Bigger blockbusters are no doubt available for the price.
