Reviews for Loch Lomond Original
High hopes
I had high hopes for this one, but found it underwhelming. I tried it out on 8 guests in a blind tasting with four similar whiskies later and they all picked the Aldi Speyside over this one.

Will compete with the best of the best
I've been wanting to try this for months now, and I've finally taken the plunge. This is a very good malt, and will easily stand up to any of the big names.
Beautiful golden colour, nice thick mouth feel, creamy honey and vanilla, notes of citrus, slight smoke on the nose (smoke not peat) and the palette is similar but a very welcoming subtle hint of earthy peat right at the end. I'm a peat head so this is very much welcomed. For a NAS, this is so smooth. Must try more from LL now!

A Winner
Good price point, needs the right amount of water to really bring it alive, opens the body of the malt and improves the nose. Complex but balanced on the tongue, great after taste, will buy again. Priced perfectly, its not pretending to be Glenfarclas, appreciate it for what it is!

Good stuff for a budget option
Considering the price this is good whisky. Lot of snobs saying it's not ful or rich or something like that.... Well if you know your whisky thus is basic single malt and for everyday dram this will do fine. Loch Lomond doest make a bad whisky. Nice one

Bland
Incredibly bland, watery, no noticeable taste other than slightly malty..

Incredible for the price.
Not a lot of peat, but on the 2nd glass it does show itself. Reminds me of the peat in Ledaig 10. A definite saltiness.

Overall the combination of peat and fruitiness seems a little weird, but in a good way. Unlike any scotch I’ve previously had, I like that.

I cannot ignore the price to quality ratio, ever. For that I give this five stars. The most complex dram I’ve ever had at this price.

If it was wine I'd say it was corked
Flat and watery with a slight cardboard off-taste and the slightest of hints of peat. It tastes like whiskey in the same way a tea bag previously used 2 times would make a drink that tastes like tea.

Great
Amazing whiskey for the price. It can easily take on competition that is twice the price. I`m actualy having difficulty finding another scotch that has such a malty feel and that does not break the bank.

Perfect house whisky
It’s no Highland Park 18yo nor Glenfarclas 25yo but a perfect house whisky to enjoy between all them five star drams.

A very good single malt
A well balanced single malt with a character. Fits to drink around the year. One of my favorites. When you don’t want have too peaty and too fruity or light , this is the one to choose.
If the age limy shows, I would definitely give 5 stars. Forget about the price, this is an excellent whisky.
