    Loch Lomond Grainstorm Peated

Peated Loch Lomond single grain Scotch whisky! That's right, heavily peated malted barley was distilled in a Coffey still at the Highland distillery for this one – definitely not something you see very often at all. Following distillation, it was matured in a combination of first and refill American oak ex-bourbon casks, adding a whole host of sweet, fruitier notes to the smoky spirit.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

    Nose

Berry jam, oaky vanilla, and a dusting of baking spices, with a layer of fragrant smoke underneath it all.

    Palate

Sweet and peaty, with lemon blossom, singed heather, and liquorice alongside ripe orchard fruit.

    Finish

    Crisp malt, and lingering smoke.

    Fill yer boots

Looking at some of these reviews below you'd think this was a bit of a Marmite whisky. Au contrare, this is a delightful change to the peated style norm and all the better for it. A quality presentation of this single grain with warm clove notes predominating. It's an easy sipper and worth a punt by any enthusiast.

    Decent and nice

It was my second peated whisky. Once a bit watered or with a bit of ice, very nice whisky with a character. Not for everyone, the smokiness is present and the after taste is lovely. Not superior but very nice for under 30€. I would say 3.8 out of 5

    Just Nope

Thought I'd give this a try. But it's horrid. I actually threw the dram down the drain. Didn't taste like Whisky. BUT, I'm experienced enough to know that a bottle sometimes should not be judged by the first pour. I will return, but for now a huge nope. In the 15 or so years I've explored Whisky, this was really really bad.

    Great find buy some.

Bit of a find this one. Cheap as chips here in cape town which makes a very nice change. Sweet smoky a bit salty I really like it.
