Rare stuff indeed. This was distilled at Mannochmore from 1996 to '97. This 10 year old is known as "The Black Whisky", so named for its very dark appearance. The producers attribute the colour to the use of double charred casks. Perhaps there's a drop or two of spirit caramel in the equation. Regardless, this is quite a collectible, even if it's not particularly well-regarded by critics.

A really nice drop just wished we where told it was to be taken out of production. Always bought litre bottles on the boats across the Channel for £10 but then just stopped being available.
The memory of drinking this fine Scotch is undeniable. Bought a bottle in 1997 and enjoyed it with a friend who actually introduced it to me. I wish I could have another bottle and find my friend to share it again.

Purchased 2 bottles tried 1 keeping the other as it is a magnificent dram. Caramel Smooth. Cannot praise it highly enough. Forget what the doom merchants say this is a collectable whisky. End of
