Gordon & MacPhail
Scotland
Single Malt
Distilled in 1990, matured in refill sherry hogsheads before bottling in 2006 by Gordon and MacPhail. Ledaig is the name given to peaty releases from the Tobermory distillery on the Isle of Mull.
The nose is quite light and fresh. There are notes of cut flowers and sweet barley, heather roots and Bramley apples, a fudge note develops with a touch of toasty oak spice. The palate is of medium-body with superb balance. There are notes of soft, whirling smoke and toasty oak. There is a defied spice note with pollen and beeswax and toffee, some herbs and barley. The finish is of good length with a gentle warmth.
This whisky is definately one of the best I have ever had, been looking for a bottle for many years now, but can't track it down. The fantastic array of flavours topped off by this peppery sensation is amazing!
