Laphroaig 30 Year Old - The Ian Hunter Story Book 2: Building an Icon
Behold, Book 2 from Laphroaig's The Ian Hunter Story series! Following on from Book 1, this particular edition was matured for an impressive 30 years in Spanish oak Oloroso sherry casks! The range honours former owner and manager of Laphroaig, Ian Hunter.
Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt
Nose
First thing you notice is the iodine, classic Laphroaig, and then meaty notes like smoked bacon but with a sweet maple syrup cure, toffee, with spices such as pink peppercorns, chilli and liquorice.
Palate
Spicy peppery notes with seaweed and that iodine note again, creamy full nutty texture with stone fruit, rose petal and toffee.
Finish
Long with nuts and a lemon peel lift.
Overall
A rich dark old dram but that Laphroaig Distillery character still dominates after all this time.
