The Laphroaig 18-year-old single malt replaced the 15-year-old in 2009 (rebranded in 2013) and comes at a higher strength. This old bottling will fit right into a special collection, or make a memorable headliner for a special tasting.

I love peated whisky, but not a big fan of standard Laphroaig 10 as I've always found it one dimensional. I got my hands on this for around a 150 usd. Loved it. It's beautifully integrated - sweetness of bourbon and ripe pears, blended and balanced beautifully with peat and smoke, iodine and seaside smells. A few drops of water opens it up, and time skews it more towards the sweeter side, with the smoky flavor becoming more active on the finish, and the iodine getting underplayed. It's elegant, classy, and just so wonderfully balanced. I'd put this as no. 3 of all Islay that I've encountered - after the Ugi and PC 10
