It's the third batch of Laphroaig single malt independently bottled by That Boutique-y Whisky Company - this time, they've bottled up a fantastic 13 year old whisky from the Islay-based distillery. Once again, the Living Room Whisky chaps grace the label, dressed in their finest clothes from 2015. Or at least what people in the 1980s thought we'd be wearing in 2015...
Batch 3 is a release of 916 bottles.
‘That Boutique-y Whisky Company’ bottles single malts, single grains and bourbons from a variety of renowned distilleries as well as producing award-winning blended malts and blends. These whiskies are adorned with cultish graphic novel-style labels.
Salt spray and applewood smoke lead, before latte, fiery wood spices and earthy peat develop. There are stewed prunes and Seville orange marmalade underneath, and a little hint of jalapeños in brine.
In a rich and oily palate, white pepper provides a savoury spice to dried cured meats and stewed apples among warm bonfire smoke. There’s a honeyed sweetness throughout.
Wood embers and a whisper of cooling menthol linger.
A ridiculously awesome Laphroaig. Nothing else needs to be said.
