Here's the 2016 release of Lagavulin's Distillers Edition expression, which was distilled in 2000 and finished in Pedro Ximenéz casks before being bottled in 2016. 2016 was a big year for the distillery on the south coast of Islay, as they were celebrating their 200th anniversary - as referenced on this whisky's label and presentation box.
Nose: Well-roasted barley and wafts of iodine. A creaminess of vanilla and yoghurt coated raisins.
Palate: Seville orange and cherry. More medicinal peat and a touch of seaweed. Dried apricot and chewy pecans.
Finish: Long and satisfyingly smoky.
