A limited release of cask strength Kingsbarns Balcomie. The sherried Lowland whisky you know and love has been bottled straight from the cask, without chill filtration or added colour, and at a very punchy 59.9% ABV.
Warm, woody spices, with candied orange peel, dried currants, and brown sugar.
Some tropical fruit, along with dried apricots, tawny marmalade, cinnamon, clove, and some dark chocolate.
Sweet and spicy, with some toasted walnuts.

Yet to sample a Kingsbarns lowland whisky and saw the CS was actually cheaper than the 46% version. Have to say I was very pleased . Once added a teaspoon of water or two (it takes water well) it opens up lovely . Nice tropical fruits and gooey marmalade on the palate , sweet and wood notes follow through with cinnamon , spice and honey. I will keep my eye on this new distillery in the future to see how they progress. Good stuff
