Kinahan's has introduced The Kasc Project, which aims to delve into the unknown regarding whiskey making, using hybrid casks (kascs?). Each cask has been constructed from five different types of wood, including Portuguese, American, French and Hungarian oak, as well as chestnut. The result is a complex blend marrying all different types of cask. Innovative stuff from Ireland.
Juicy autumnal fruit, namely plum, alongside pear and apple crumble. Sweeter aromas of rich caramel and pineapple peek through, supported by a spicy undertone.
Somewhat syrups, with prominent charred oak, barbecued mango and more caramelised tropical fruit with a scattering of vanilla pod. Creamy fruit and nut chocolate drizzled with runny caramel.
Aromatic, Christmassy notes of nutmeg and clove, orange oil and brown sugar, with caramelised pineapple.

Wow, super impressed with this whiskey. The different woods really add complexity to the whiskey and it is great both neat and in cocktails too. And for the price, it really is something special!
Very complex and interesting, the stuff to meditate and relax. You can get more details in tasting notes, I just want to say that after having a glass few weeks ago decided to switch to Glenfiddich 15 and it was a mistake. I know that you need to make few blind tastings to make any conclusions but at that exact moment I felt that "Kasc" was more complex and interesting and Glenfiddich went back to the shelf. Taking into consideration price/quality ratio the stuff is just amazing! 30 eur for the bottle? Are you serious? Could be a killer in a segment if marketed properly.
I've tried the KASC project whiskey first time few months ago and I just can't get enough of it. So many different flavors together for a perfectly balanced final taste. It is now for me a must-have at home. If you've never tasted it, it's definitely worth a try!
Must agree with reviews unusual taste but a nice drink worth a try at the price cheers
Bought this based on the reviews and I was not disappointed. So smooth and flavourful, I would even go as far to say that it was better then some of the pricey premium whiskeys . Definitely one to have in the house.
