Kavalan Solist Vinho Barrique (57.1%)
Solist Vinho Barrique changed everything for Taiwan distillery Kavalan. When it won the best single malt whisky in the world at The World Whisky Awards in 2015, people really woke up to what a cracking producer it is. No wonder people were so impressed, this is a rich and rewarding whisky that was aged initially in American oak casks that were previously used to mature white and red wines.
Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt
Nose
Vanilla and caramelised sugars with dark chocolate on top. Ripe melon and mango.
Palate
Kiwi and a delicate blend of citrus fruits burst. Pepper is also present in the background waiting to be noticed.
Finish
Clean and complex hints of chocolate and ripe fruit.
