Nose: Red grapes and clove, followed by a good whack of vanilla. A little bit of tobacco leaf and cookie dough.

Kavalan Concertmaster - Port Cask Finish (50cl) Reviews
Rich, complex. I keep coming back
I keep coming back to this one. It is rich and complex beyond anything I would expect from a NAS, likely due to the tropical climate in which it was aged. Not smokey. A hot tropical friut nose with a clean, deep, sweet open, followed by leather, stewed friuts, and a medium finish with a touch of oak and custard. Delicious. It's increaskingly pricey in my are, and I buy some of Kavalan's pricier bottles, but this is as good as any of them. In blind taste tests, is is consistantly outperforming bottles three times the cost.

Highly enjoyable, quite unique
A really interesting and complex dram. There’s a warming, yet sweet profile to this whisky which, although fruity and spiced, isn’t reminiscent of any Speyside I’ve had. Perhaps thanks to the unique conditions in which cask maturation has occurred, this a really unique tasting experience. A depth and complexity that I didn’t expect from a Taiwanese whisky, in retrospect, quite unfairly. A worthy addition to any collection in my book. Greatly enjoyable.

over-priced
There's a lot going on here: port, raisins, leather, spice, but it's not quite enough to justify the price tag. Remember this is £48 for a 50cl bottle, the equivalent 70cl bottle would be £67 - pricey for NAS.
