Jura The Sound Bottling Note

The Sound is the entry level expression from Isle of Jura's Travel Retail range, all of which feature whisky finished in casks that previously held Pedro Ximénez sherry of various ages. This particular single malt was finished in casks that matured 15 year old Pedro Ximénez sherry. Sadly, there isn't a whisky in the range called The Fury to pair this with.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose: Soft caramel and sultana notes. Burnt oak balanced by floral malt.

Palate: Orange syrup, rose petal, cherry and a touch of five-spice.

Finish: Chocolatey on the finish, joined by buttered brown bread.

Lovely and different for this none expert
Fathers day present and although an ex licensee have not tasted this one before. Really enjoyed the smooth taste but can't work out the background flavour.Different for this none expert!
A most welcome addition to my preferences!

Smooth and bloody gorgeous
I bought this for 32 euros on a special offer, I’m not a specialist, but I love single malt, I thought this is the smoothest, silkiest single malt I have tasted so far, I have a bottle of 12 year old double cask Macallens that my son bought for me that I haven’t tasted yet…

Classic, but not snobby.
I really like The Sound.

Harmonious overtones, clear articulations and sonorous sustain, a fine counterpoint between distinct notes, with a very gradual and graceful decrescendo.

Poor
The drink has some odd taste like fungus. Disappointed. No where near to Jura Original

Average
This is a nice but unspectacular addition to the Jura range. When I saw it was £60 a bottle I was expecting something spectacular, but it's far from it. It's not unpleasant and quite drinkable, but I'd rather have a Balvenie 12 year old at half the price.
