    Jura Seven Wood

You may have guessed it already from this expression's name, but the Isle of Jura Seven Wood is made with whisky drawn from seven different types of cask. There's American white oak, and six other French oaks, Limousin, Tronçais, Allier, Vosges, Jupilles, and Les Bertranges. Intriguing stuff, this.

    Better once a 1/3rd in

Strawberry jam on toast, cooked peach and heavy vanilla is the official description from MoM .... wasnt quite expecting it to be just that. Someone below mentioned that its settles down afetr opening, couldnt agree more. Interesting dram!

    Very good!!

So it was actually the French Oak Jura I have and it's really nice! On first opening it was quiet fruit drive with orange peel, dried fruit, some spice but after a day or 2 it really changed and it opened up much more and became more softer with some light peat notes, rounder and smoother. So definitely changed and improved after a few days. Really love Jura and Islay Malts. I did a 100 mile cycle around Islay next to Jura (ride of the fallen rain 2019) and will definitely one day get on to Jura. I would definitely recommend this "French Oak" and I do want to try the Seven Wood next although a little bit more expensive I'm sure it will be worth it.

    Muddled indeed

Someone further down the comments also noted that the flavours are very muddled and I have to agree... I found it very hard to identify anything from this one. Despite this, it is an interesting taste with a lovely finish to it. All in all not as complex as I was hoping.

    Really interesting whisky!

I was really intrigued by this whisky, it is apparently made with whisky drawn from 7 different French oak casks and it certainly does not disappoint! There is a whole arrays of different flavours and delivers something new with every sip. Its very well balanced, rich and smooth with a slight spicy kick. Definitely one to add to the collection!
