Jura Red Wine Finish

Joining the Jura Cask Editions collection, this expression has been finished in red wine casks, imparting a glorious berry influence to this island single malt. Packing plenty of rich fruit, it's fabulously full bodied, we reckon those folks at Jura are onto something with all this cask experimentation!

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose Dark berries and forest fruits, gently floral wafts of vanilla and crème caramel.

Palate Sultanas and soft summer fruits with raspberry tang and juicy strawberry and gentle vanilla chai spice.

Finish Cinnamon and red fruits continue with spicy oak, roasted malt, and a creamy finish.

Reviews for Jura Red Wine Cask Finish
So Disappointing
I have a bit of a love/hate relationship with jura whiskies. Some, I've enjoyed (the 14 year old rye cask for one), others such as journey were just to bland and insipid for me.

I bought this on a whim after reading great reviews and it was on a special price.

Opening the bottle I find it very 1 dimensional, a little cinnamon but a very dry taste. A lot of suplhur too. Maybe it'll improve after some time, but at this time I'm ready to throw it away.

Lovely
A delightfully easy-to-drink whisky. Compared with the Jura 10 year, much sweeter notes, but the wine comes through very subtly to enhance the flavour - certainly not an overbearing wine taste, but a great addition. Brings out a lot of fruity elements while still maintaining the best characteristics of a highland scotch. My favourite at the moment.

Clean, crisp, refreshing and smooth
Probably the best whiskey for a cheap price, full of flavour, smooth with a brush of sweet notes and a clean aftertaste. This is my go to when j see it on offer

Gorgeous and fruity.
I get the red fruit and caramel then a slightly spicy vanilla. Good finish. Got to be careful with this lovely whisky. It almost feels like a desert wine on the palate.

OK
OK. For a red-wine finish there is a surprising lack of red wine colour or flavour. It's still a nice whisky - not greatly dissimilar to the basic Jura.
