Journey is the entry level expression from the Isle of Jura range (which was relaunched in mid-2018). It was aged exclusively in American white oak ex-bourbon barrels and bottled at 40% ABV. A tasty introduction to Jura's single malts.
Melted butter, sugared almond, a very light hint of smoke.
Honeyed-drenched pear, toffee and pencil shavings.
Oily walnut and light apricot sweetness.
Quite bitter, unpleasant without adding water. Wouldn’t buy it again. Main plus point is it’s not very nice so you won’t overdo it
It's worth the money but not interesting at all. If could be very good for a party when your need something to knock you out, cuz it's easy-drinking one with no heavy bits. For 23-25 it's a good true-ish whisky. No smell, almost no taste, and no aftertaste.
Underwhelming
Got given a bottle of this as a gift and I liked it a lot more than I expected to. Nice, sweet, easy-drinking single malt. Absolutely nothing to complain about at this price and will probably pick a bottle up at some point if I see it on offer, just to keep me away from the more expensive whiskies in my cupboard.
For €23, this is a bargain as it tastes like it should be more expensive. Of course there are better whiskies, but I for one can't justify spending so much for a premium bottle more than once per year. Tastes better with a splash of spring water (fountain near to my house)
